Playing with my airbrush on Autumn Orchid ^.^ with my hubbie as my airbrushing supervisor. I’m very pleased with how it’s turned out! 😀 I can’t wait to airbrush more! I may have to open a commission round where I only accept ponies that require airbrushing x3

What kind of paint do you use? I can’t seem to find anything that sticks to the polyester minky is made of!

I mix and thin my acrylic paints with an airbrush medium suitable for fabrics, there are also airbrushable paints compatible w fabrics, those would work pretty well too. There are plenty of different brands around, I use one from a local art store, but well known ones include Golden, Badger etc, good luck ^^

Hi, I know this post is fairly old but hopefully you’ll still see this – does airbrushing minky like this affect the softness of it? Working on a project and trying to decide between dye & airbrush.

Hi! In general, it depends on how much you spray. If you spray a few light layers usually it doesn’t really affect the softness much at all. However, if you want a more saturated look and spray on many layers then it may affect the texture – it becomes to feel more like painted on minky. Hope that sort of helps. Imo, airbrushing is better/easier to achieve that blended/gradient look, whereas dyeing might be a better option if you want a more uniform and saturated look. Good luck!
