At long last! He’s finally FINALLY complete! ^o^ I’ve been waiting for this moment for an eternity (partially because I had to take a 2 month hiatus from sewing due to real life commitments :P)
I’m so proud to showcase the plushified version of my latest OC Fantasia (aka Lucid Tone)! 😀 Some of you might recall him as the winner of my plushie contest in June where contestants had to design an OC pony for me. He was designed by the incredibly talented & much respected Lanmana (thank you Lan!)
I must’ve started working on him back in August? I had him all sewn up ready and for airbrushing when, as usual, real life reared its annoying head and I was forced to take a plushing/sewing hiatus. That hiatus was later slightly prolonged by bioware gaming addiction ^^” (good times! XD).
Ahem, aaaanyway… so one of the things I fell head over heels in love with was how simple, yet complex, his design was. His hair appeared largely a dusty blue at first glance, but on closer look, they scatter with the iridescence of a rainbow. And in line with rainbows, he emanates the theme of illusion – a unique talent which his passionate singing brings. It all fits together so subtlely yet perfectly.
I had to scratch my head hard on how to re-create that effect on a minky plush. I’d initially wondered about incorporating sheen organza; but after tossing a few ideas here and there, I settled on using my good ol’ friend – my iwata airbrush. We have a love/hate relationship, me and my airbrush x3
Just so you know, I used dusty blue minky for his entire hair and tail, so everything else you see was airbrushed on. It took many many airbrushing sessions (a large chunk of it was spent on air drying and cleaning >.<), but I’m actually really pleased with the end result (yes, I’ve intentionally exaggerated the subtle shades in his hair 😛 I couldn’t resist! I guess it’s just the moggymawee’s take on everything his design)
His dreammaker was made with minky, beads and embroidery floss (mounted on a safety pin), and his black scarf (so stylish!) is completely removable ;).

Talent: singing and illusion magic
Backstory:
Lucid was always passionate about singing, but it wasn’t until his passion activated his power that he earned his cutiemark. He could create complex and abstract illusions based on the mood of his songs. Having eventually gained attention for his unique abilities, Lucid slowly worked his way into becoming something of a singing sensation with his visually vibrant concerts, and his stage name became “Fantasia”.
That all changed when his agent signed him into an opera performance, where he played as a king during a time of conflict and despair. His passionate singing for such a theme caused shocking and tragic imagery to appear, scaring off the crowd and leaving Lucid deeply upset over it all. He decided to leave show business after that, and kept most of his singing to himself.
Additional Info:
• he always looks as though he is daydreaming or dozing off
• his scarf is decorated with a dreamcatcher that his mother made for him
• he used to have a pet songbird that died of old age, and he attached some of its feathers onto his dreamcatcher to remember his pet by
• his illusion powers only work when he sings, he has yet to learn how to fully control them as they only come about subconsciously when he sings passionately
