My sewing: Nurse Redheart Plushie

Hi guys! ^^

Nurse Redheart cares! ❤

I was in desperate need of a bit of respite from working on overly complex alicorns, so I decided to take a few days off plushing somepony simpler. Nurse Redheart fitted the bill perfectly! I’m a big fan of her simple and clean design (and of course, I love the soft pink/white colour scheme) and have always wanted to plush her.

Her forelock is side-swept to the left (I tried to do a bird’s-eye view to capture that :P) and her hat is magnetized and fully removable.

I feel so zen when I look at her! x3 I call her my “respite pony”.  I hope you guys like her too!

My current ongoing projects are:

1) Contest prize winner alicorn
2) Foalsitter Cadence trade
3) Princess Luna #2 for myself

I’ve decided (with certainty) to open 2-3 commission slots in August, regardless of how far into my current projects I am. I like to work on multiple projects at once anyway so it should be no problem (if anything, I’d just have to delay Luna until after all the other projects have been completed)

Anyway! I have to get ready for work soon! So I better submit this now! 🙂 hope you are all well! (it’s freeeezing here! 1 degrees celsius! >.<)

  1. Hi Mary! Wow, what another beautiful plushie – I love how you put removable accessories on them.

I wanted to ask for some tips. I’m really thinking about getting into plushie making, as I really really love plushies in general. I know it costs a bit and it’s a lot of hard work but I think it’s something I want to put my time into. Do you have any advice/tips for someone who is just starting? I don’t know how to get started, haha. I already have a sewing machine and I’ve looked through DeviantArt and Google for tutorials and it’s a little overwhelming.

    • Hey Ellie!

So sorry for the late reply! I hadn’t read your message until now.

Thank you so much for liking her! She was a lot of fun to make, and I love that I get to keep her for myself ^^

As for plushing advice – what sort of plushie are you looking to make? My best advice would be to start practicing with a free/cheap existing pattern. After you get the hang of how everything connects etc, then you can start to draft your own patterns 😉

Another way would be to buy a cheap plushie (similar to the shape you’re looking to make) and dismantling it to see how the pattern/pieces fit together :3

      Hope that helps! ^^

      Mary
